Touhiduddin Ahmed was born in Thakurgaon district, Bangladesh in 1941. He got his M.Sc degree in Zoology and specialized in Entomology from Dhaka University in 1964. He obtained a degree (DAPE) on Applied Parasitology and Entomology from 'Institute for Medical Research (IMR)', KL, Malaysia. He served as 'Medical Entomologist' in the Department of Medical Entomology of the Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) from 1965 to 1999.
After that he served as consultant, principal and co-investigator, trainer, facilitators, guide in many projects on different aspects of vector borne diseases carried out by both public and private institutes/organizations and still continuing doing so. Presently he is also working as supervisor and monitoring activities of Indoor Residual Spraying (IRS) in government run 'Kala-azar Elimination Program in Bangladesh'. He guided 20 M.Sc (Zoology) students in their thesis work. He has published four books on medical and agricultural entomologyand zoonotic diseases and published 51 research papers in scientific journals of home and abroad
MSc on behavioural ecology from Simon Fraser University, Vancouver, B.C. Canada. A medical entomologist who worked with mosquitoes and mosquito borne diseases over 12 years. Published four journal papers in various scientific journals of Bangladesh and 3 papers in various journals overseas. Wrote 34 entries on the sp Anopheles in the Encyclopedia of Flora and Fauna of Bangladesh.
