What is a mosquito?

Mosquitoes are tiny midge like fly from order Diptera. They often carry pathogens that cause deadly human and animal diseases, therefore, they secure a very important role among all other dipterans.

How can we control mosquitoes?

There are several ways of controlling the mosquitoes, such as:

•   Biological control

Use of other mosquito larvae or other aquatic larvae or fish as predators in the larval stages

•   Physical Control

- Source reduction, larval habitat destruction etc

•   Chemical control

Different types of larvicides and adulticides are used to control mosquitoes
